Chau Doc Travel Guide

Chau Doc is a city in the heart of the Mekong Delta, in Vietnam and close to the river border of Vietnam and Cambodia. It's a wonderful place - small, cheap, rather unspoiled and very friendly.

Chau Doc is home for many Khmer, Cham and Chinese and famous with diversity culture and historical sites such as the Thoai Ngoc Hau mausoleum and the Quan Cong temple

The best time to visit Chau Doc

Chau Doc has two seasons: wet (May until November) and dry (December until April). The best time to visit Chau Doc is during the dry season, a time when tourists will not be inconvenienced by rainy weather

How to get Chau Doc

Bus and boat are two main type of transportation to help travelers visit Chau Doc:

By bus: Traveling to Chau Doc by bus is the best way to get Chau Doc. Tourist can go directly to Bus Station.

By boat: Traveling by the boats which provides for those which travel from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh and vice versa; these boats leave at 07:00 and they arrive at 16:30.

Things to do and top attractions in Chau Doc

Sam Mountain

Sam Mountain is the main attraction in Chau Doc, which is about seven kilometers north of town and it is considered a local pilgrimage site because the mountain is home to many shrines and temples and there is a colorful temple at the base and smaller places of worship on the way up the mountain.

Tra Su Bird Sanctuary

It located about 20 km from Chau Doc and covers an area of approximately 850 hectares. A wide variety of colorful birds and other animals can be found here: storks, bats, snakes, turtles

Floating boat

The market expands from the bank of the river and along the streets of Le Cong Thanh Doc, Phu Thu, Bach Dang and Chi Lang. This is where most local products and commodities are sold. Everyone who visits Chau Doc must go on a boat trip and an experience in this town would not be complete without it.
