There are two types of Vietnam visa extension: one month and three months

If your current visa is 1 month single or 1- month multiple entries => you are allowed apply to extend in 1 more month.
If your current visa is 3- months single or 3- month multiple entries=> you can apply to extend in 3 more months

Requirements

Your passport consists of at least 1-2 empty pages to get the new seal
Your passport with validity of more than 6 months
At least 3 days before your visa expiration.

Well-notes

You can’t extend your visa online. If you want to extend your Vietnam visa, you have to contact with any Visa agency in Vietnam before your visa expiration about 7 days for extending Vietnam visa
To extend Vietnam visa, you have to bring your original passport to travel agencies and getting back with the new Vietnam visa after 4- 7 working days
Vietnam visa extension fee is more expensive than Vietnam visa on arrival, therefore, you have to make your plan carefully before applying for Vietnam visa on arrival
