Lunar New Year


Lunar New Year is the biggest national festival to honor grandparent, kin and ancestor. This is the day for pilgrims and family reunions.

The Tet in Vietnam begins from the 23th of the last lunar month which is the time for God of Kitchen to return to heaven to report what happened in the whole year to the Jade Emperor and last from 30th day of the twelfth lunar month of the previous year to the 3rd day of the first lunar month of the new year.

Tet Nguyen Tieu- First full moon of the year

Tet Nguyen Tieu is celebrated each year to welcome the first full moon of the New Year. This festival plays a significant role in Vietnamese's cultural and religious life and the most important among all full moons throughout the year.

In general, Tet Nguyen Tieu is celebrated among the Buddhist community, especially in the center and southern part of Vietnam. In the Northern part, Tet Nguyen Tieu is more to pray to the ancestors.

Vu Lan Festival

Vu Lan festival or Buddhist festival is happened on 15th of 7th  lunar month to show gratitude to parents, ancestors and wish for the dead relative’s soul would avoid the punishment of the next life.

Mid-Autumn Festival

Tet Trung Thu- is the day when the moon is at its brightest in a year usually takes place on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month in the middle of autumn and it is celebrated for a whole day. It is a Vietnamese special day to worship Moon Genie, give thanks for the harvest, and also pray happiness for their family.
