Considered to Mekong Delta Region, tourists usually mention to floating market. But this is also the great region to try the best dishes. Following is some popular names that you should try at least one time.

Pia cake

Pia Cake is Soc Trang Province as well as in the Mekong Delta is Pia cake which is a rich cake eaten with tea that is a specialty of the Kinh, Khmer and Chinese ethnic people living in the Mekong Delta region.

Pia cake is also a very colorful delicacy, with an orange pink exterior, a yellow interior from the green pea powder and a red center from the color of the egg yolk.

My Tho seafood noodle soup

Seafood noodle soup is a popular delicious dish in the Mekong Delta that you should try. This dish is a combination among Go Cat rice taken from the most famous rice-growing area of My Phong village, pork bones, meat, dried squid and some particular condiments to make the delicious broth. You also can enjoy the noodles dry with the soup on the side.

Loi choi with citronella and pimento

Loi Choi is a kind of fish having a cylinder body like a chopstick in Tra Vinh. Fresh alive loi choi or dried one which is grilled on coal fire is truly the most delicious dish in the region. With the fatty taste of loi choi fat, the smell of citronella and pimento and chewing tough loi choi meat while sipping a little strong alcohol are actually great experience. 

Nem Lai Vung - Lai Vung fermented pork hash

Fermented pork hash is quite famous in Mekong Delta Region and this dish is attached with Lai Vung District in Dong Thap province. It is made from mainly fermented and seasoned minced pork and sliced pigskin wrapped in fresh banana leaves into small boxy rolls and then kept it for fermentation at 27-300 degree for three to five days before enjoying it.

Nem Lai Vung can eat with rice, vermicelli or bread. It is the perfect combination of sweet, sour, salty and spicy tastes that stir passion among gourmet
